So as not to hijack jays topic in this part of the forum, I would like to ask the question, "Do you need to clean with copper solvent after firing copper plated bullets in a centrefire rifle"?

G'day mate, Every so often you will need to use a good solvent such as Sweets, even with copper wash. I clean my 1911 9mm with a copper solvent every 5th clean, but your own barrel may need more or less, Cheers.
I trust you mean .22LR Lead Bullets or similar coated with Copper.
From the many decades of shooting a .22LR I have never seen any copper residue in the bore. Lead bullets actually I believe it is a Copper Wash and not actually Plated then may or may not be coated with a Wax. A protective coating for the lead as far as I believe and for no other purpose.
Many, and particularly Target Bullets only have a thick Wax coating.
I have used many cleaning products that do copper but in particular I'm after the Lead / Wax removal. Never seen a trace of copper on a patch.

My mistake, Apollo. I meant bullets for centrefires, in particular the 30/30. Just goes to show me that I can't be too careful. I never dream't of it being taken to be for rimfires Sorry 'bout that.
