A mate of mine's big on pigs and swears by the Hornady 265gr Interlock for his .44

Plenty of weight and a bit flatter shooting than your typical .44 mag bullet.

Oh, and he's using just under maximum AR2205 for his load I'm pretty sure.

What size boar we talking here Zak?

You could be shooting anything from 160 - 300 grain pills depending on how much bang you want and how much recoil you can handle.

We talking "Babe" or "Hogzilla"? :D

Hornady HP XTP's will do the job no worries at all.

Comes in everything from 180gr - http://www.hornady.com/store/44-Cal-.430-180-gr-HP-XTP/

To 300gr - http://www.hornady.com/store/44-Cal-.430-300-gr-HP-XTP/

For if it just absolutely has to go to pieces :D

Nothing will stand up to a 300gr bullet with 20gr of 2205 behind it ;)

I've read good things about the Nosler JHP bullets.

Very consistent manufacturing for consistent accuracy apparently.

200-300gr bullets available...

Sierra bullets usually rate high on my list...

210 or 240gr JHC?

210 would be on the more friendly side of recoil for a .44 and still do the business.

240gr if you want a bit more power/higher BC.

Recoil won't be a issue and I would like enough force to drop a pig on the heavier end of the scale. Hence why I'm getting into reloading.

As mentioned you can go as low as 160gr ish for 44 mag bullets, but I'd stay away from those if you're expecting some biggers pigs to be around.

Like always, you'll need to test a few loads to find out which your rifle likes, but I'd start by trying a few 200-220gr bullets.

Plenty of power and a bit flatter shooting than heavier bullets.

On the subject of Hornady, they do a flex tip 220gr bullet. http://www.hornady.com/store/44-Cal-.430-225-gr-FTX/

No reason to not start there.

There's no substitute for experience friend :)

Buy some heavy pills, cook up a few loads and get shooting ;)
