Styer M95/30 carbine in 8x56R - starting load please

Post by juststarting » 09 May 2017, 10:32 am

Hi All

I've recently purchased a Styer M95 - 8x56R. And I need some advice with starting loads. I have some ideas, but separate verification would be great.

I'll be using AR2208; with PPU .330 208gr FMJ BT projectiles.

Thanks

Thanks, OB! This is the link I had stashed too :) Hence my "separate verification" question :)

G'day juststarting,
I loaded 40.0g of AR2206H for a mild load in the rifle, then changed to 45.0 of AR2208 for better sealing and accuracy. Still a mild load in the rifle, and worked OK in the carbine. My current load is 48.5g of 2208 for 2200fps from the rifle, and this is a No5/Nagant M44 type of load in the carbine, ie: it BANGS! CIP max for this cartridge is 54000psi. The military ammo should produce about 2400fps in the rifle, I haven't chronographed the carbine. Cheers.

Juststarting is that one of those Finnish mosins? Heard they can be accurate...

Kinda, only it's a Styer, not a Mosin.
