Are reloading dies interchangeable?

Post by Daft » 16 Aug 2017, 9:32 am

Are different die bands interchangeable with most presses? im liking all that ive read about the Lee breach lock kit but am also looking at the redding t-7 press. from what ive seen online the Lee hardware is great but i would like the turret press for convenience.

Provided it screws into the press, yes. I use a Lee die for the 223 & a RCBS for the 30-06.

Yes just about all dies will fit all presses but there can be issues with shell holders so try to use the same brand shell holder as the die and follow their instructions for set up.

the short answer would be yes as long as the thread size is the same, but if you were using lee collet dies in an rcbs rockchucker the set up instructions are different, because the rockchucker over counter-levers it can break the collet dies, there are also better ways of setting up die's eg: rcbs wobble dies than what the manufacturer's instructions tell you

You just use your .50 cal die for everything, right Brett

Dies are the same in most cases.

Simplex made sime 5/8 threaded dies for their super simplex turret press.

Most others are a standard 7/8 thread. These are interchangeable between majority of presses.

There a some exceptions such as 50 cal dies etc. But most dies in a gun shop will be 7/8
