.260 loads with Hornady 143gn eld-x bullets

Post by Elmer » 16 Aug 2017, 10:29 pm

Hi folks, Iam interested in working up some loads for my .260rem using Hornady 143gn eld-x bullets but cannot seem to find much data on loads.
Does anyone know load data for this bullet?, will be using fed match primers and Lap cases but have not decided on powder yet.
cheers.

I've been using 41gr of 2209 behind the ELD, ( not the "X" ) with excellent results in a Creedmoor if that helps.

The ELD are very very close in all dimensions and specs to the Amax. If you can find amax data, I would use that as a base for your load development.
I'll have to do the same with 162gn 7mm ELD shortly.
Ps: not sure amax has/had an equivalent .260 bullet, though?

Ar2209 would probably be the best powder??? Interested to see how you go with ELD-X. Seem pretty expensive. What about Berger VLD hunting 140gr. Similar price really. Slightly cheaper?

2208 or 2209 are both popular for the .260

I hadn't seen the ELD-X before. Looks like a good bit of ammo.

Like the Nosler AB Long Range. Not bonded, but weight retention still looks great for the .260 speeds and a conventional bullet.

I've had good success with the 143g ELD-X out of the 260 rem.
2209 44.5g (HOT) Avg 2800 f/s (ES16) Lapua brass with fed primers.
In the field good expansion and retention in red deer.
