Reloading Lapua 6.5 creedmoor small primer/small flash hole?

Post by Cooper » 28 Sep 2017, 11:25 am

I've decided not to use Hornady brass anymore as the weights are all over the place! I ordered some Lapua brass. But just need to work out how I am going to deal with the small flash hole? I currently use Lee dies that have the one piece de primer rod/mandrel. I could modify the pin or cut it off? I also have a Lee universal de capping tool which would still need the depriming pin altered? Or should I buy a fancy Forster of Redding die where I can even bump the shoulder back if necessary?

yes you should buy the forster or redding die IMO
I don't know how you would modify the pin successfully
I would not alter the size of the primer hole
and I agree with you about the hornady brass being all over the place
