Got lazy with chamfering... This was the result

Post by Lorgar » 26 Dec 2013, 9:43 am

So I had a bunch of brass with I tumbled and trimmed a while ago and couldn't remember if I chamfered them or not...

I took a look at a few of the case necks and they looked ok, I thought bugger it, and wen't ahead with reloading them.

No surprise but had a few of these;

Little orange peels of brass stripped from the bullets. Crappy photos of the bullets taken on my phone, but you can see the little barbs clear enough and the gouges in the bullet skins.

This is after I pulled them from the bras, there was more which came off while doing this.

Like I said, not really a surprise, but sharing for new reloads as a mistake to avoid.

Not much traction on this topic... No one willing to admit they did the same thing? :lol:

Yep. One of those ones where the benefit isn't immediately obvious and it's easy to talk yourself out of doing it.
