Polyester/Dacron Cartridge filler

Polyester Fibre Cartridge filler, does anyone use this for cast bullets?
My Mrs was tossing out an old doona today and I noticed it was full of polyester. A quick google told me that dacron is polyester and remembered some re-loaders stuff it on top of the powder when reloading to keep the powder near the primer. I occasionally load a few cast bullets in my 3006 but have never bothered with the filler as they shot OK. (but could be better) So I grabbed some of it and tossed the rest.

Soooo, should I give it a try or just toss it? Or perhaps dive into the bin and get the rest? What are the pros & cons?

PS, scored some cotton flannel for patches too.

What's the fill rate on your reduced liads for cast bullets?
If you're not getting into the realms of risking a flash over then why bother?
Especially when you can use trail boss for safe case fills with effective loads.

Can't imagine adding a plastic coating to my bore is going to do good thing either; besides adding to c leanig efforts.

Happy to be told im wrong...

Currently using shotgun powder so volume is very low. Say about 30% .

Seems to be a common practice on US but I haven't seen it.

Mike Venturino is a well known authority on cast bullets and shooting them. ( He basically wrote the Lyman Cast Bullet book )
He is totally against using any sort of fillers. I'll take his word on it.
You won't get "flash over" with fast powders.
One of our lever gun silhouette shooters was using dacron as a filler in his .357, you could smell burning plastic every time he fired.
Don't know that I want melting plastic in my rifle bores.

I have always wondered about that. Sounds like I'm not going to bother.
