I have a Redfield revolution 4-12 on my .270 and from memory it was about 370 a few years ago. I have a hard time telling the difference between it and a VX2

Can't go past the Leupold VX1 for a budget.

Little less zoom but 4-12x40mm is about $400.

I've taken a liking to the Zeiss scopes lately.

Moderate price, but excellent quality.

The Terra 3X 4-12x42 is about $500. Not as much zoom but I reckon it'll be sharper than anything else for the price which has more zoom.

I'd take the quality over that.

2c.

Meopta Meopro 4-12X50 is a pinch over $500 if you want an option with a bigger objective.

I rate their glass highly.

I really like he redfield revolution, I've got 3-9x50, crystal clear nice fine reticle. Best optics I've bought for the money, $360. Apparently the revenge series is not quite as good as the revolution according to friends who have both.

I have 4 - 12 on my 25.06. But I guess it depends on weather you want to shoot little objects at 500 yds, or big objects at 100.
12 or 14x is heaps for a 25..06 IMO.

Mmmm. My thoughts too.

Is this a game or varmint setup? Or target?

For that money? LYNX. you will only get the 3-9x40 for $500 and is a really nice hunting scope. dig a bit deeper and you get the 12 power.
They are as good as any VX3 Leupold or Zeiss Conquest and have a really nice fine reticule for the long range shots with that 25/06.
Super tuff. I have one on a 243 and another on a 6.5. I know a contract roo shooter that swears by them.
Very, very hard to beat for the money.
Now that's been said, who's coming for a shot?

The VX-3 are great scopes but gotta agree the price is a little unfriendly.

Compared to how good their cheaper options are anyway. A VX-2 is still great and much less $$$$$

I was also thinking of the vortex diamondback hp 4-16 x 42.

I originally had a nikkon monarch 3 4-16x42 ordered but after waiting over 3 months for it I cancelled the order.

Shame, the Monarch is a good scope. I love mine.

3 months is asking a bit much though.
