Yeah I bought a Leupold for my 303, but was tempted to go Zerotech, after using a mates Taipan with a 1-6x24 Thrive optic on it. I agree it sucks supporting china, but if you've shopped at Bunnings, your guilty as charged.

Yeah, I completely agree. In fact we can’t stop buying china products, it’s impossible.
But, what we can do, is when there are other options we need to look at them seriously.
My wife won’t buy clothes or shoes made in china, but she will buy them from India, bangladesh and many others.
I won’t buy a china car yet. One day I might be forced to. But until that day I will look at other cheap cars from South Korea, Japan, or anywhere else at the moment.

Yeah, I completely agree. In fact we can’t stop buying china products, it’s impossible.
But, what we can do, is when there are other options we need to look at them seriously.

It's one thing not to want to support slave labour, an evil oppressive communist regime, or products bought from them by greedy Aussie set-ups that sell them at 3x the price they paid for them so they just sit under better quality gear by price - so consumers buy them instead.
This gives these importers/resellers unlimited money to flog these products from our enemies mercilessly in all the paid-for print and on-line fake reviewers.

The previous Report I get from Qld SSAA has two Zerotech reviews, binos and scope, this new one again, prior to that even more. It's beyond the pale now, their credibility is smashed on the rocks for me forever more. To me there's not an ounce of credibility in those pretenders, judge me as harshly as you feel you need to.

It's the quality, not the price. When I compare the terrible experience I had, against other stuff that costs the same that's so easily judged superior, all I can do is share the info. You can lead a horse to water but -

I seen yet another mid price range scope at the ADA meeting the other night.
Like the Zerotech to look through, very clear and bright, but only in a big room so need a better look, and outside.

Jap built, but lightweight and every feature you could wish for.
They make a bigger target scope in the 1st focal plane, so they likely know how to build a decent scope.

This one is their hunting rifle scope in 2nd FP to cut the weight down, but said to be rated for magnum rifles with good eye relief and a forgiving eye box.

Telson 2.5 -16x44 from memory and 30mm tube. Magnum Sports are doing them on sale for $ 1,140-ish

They seem to have thought of everything: a good usable BDC reticle, illumination, big target turret dials with readable markings, maybe.
Locking turret dials. A zero lock, using lock screws and keys to set.

I can't really justify the top-end scope prices, and to be honest, never needed euro glass; still got pretty good shooting eyes, but who knows as I ain't getting younger.
I can justify these sort of prices, as long as the scopes hold together for the long term.
Holding zero is also important to me.

Looking for reviews, I seen what looks remarkably similar, so likely that these scopes are rebadged with different brand stamps.
Mark and Sam do a test on what looks like the target scope with another brand name and turret markings.
He liked it and rated the glass well.

Sounds interesting Fester.
One I will be watching closely iis the new Carl Zeiss budget end scope. Zeiss V3, designed in Germany made in Japan. Early reports are good and price looks much more affordable than the German made V6 and V8 line.
I particularly like the look of the V3 2.5-8x35 “center fire” scope. They also do a rimfire version with adjustable parallax .

Also if someone is on a tight budget there are some reasonable scopes for the money coming out of the Philippines.

I have a Vixen on my CZ 22 as it had to be compact for the bolt clearance and a bit of zoom and side focus means I can play on targets as you do with a 22.

It's a Jap built scope for about $600 and a good thing so far.

Holding zero, and side by side with comparable Bushnells that my eyes always liked, it's a bit clearer, or brighter if anything.

So many unknown scope brands popping up now that I have lost touch.

I remember when I was a young kid buying a scope was pretty limited. You had Tasso, Nikko Sterling, Busnell, then a step up to Leupold. If you were really well heeled you could buy a Khales, Zeiss, or Pecar Berlin.
Nowadays fmd there must be a hundred different scope brands available in Australia. Every time I go into a new gunshop their is another scope brand I have never heard of.

I bought a Vixen from that bloke "secrets of the sambar", a 1-8x maybe 3 years ago.
This was after I just fell for these LVPO's for hunting and scrub rifles, I stuck it on a 16" brl Rem pump 7600.
Anyway it's quite a tough chunky thing, made in Japan and the user experience is great, reticle is illuminated too and the very forgiving eyebox makes it super-fast. O also very much like the "true 1x" which means no magnification whatsoever there.
Means it's the same as a red dot for speed close, but when it's almost dark, I can turn off the dot so make the best use of a scope's ability to make the view so much brighter, and use the crosshairs. Then of course 8x is more than enough for any hunting distance.
Unfortunately though, the price has jumped on these scopes since then.

But I've seen so much commentary on these scopes how people have all these complaints that are not even real things, complain about bright clear jap glass being not up to their standards, then recommend some Chinese thing like Vortex where the scope makes my eyes point in different directions. What????

But if you haven't seen the difference a great optic makes, you'll not know and maybe that's a good thing. You'll be quite happy with China optics and you won't know what you are missing and as long as you can get into the game that's the main thing.

At first, I just didn't want to know what the exy Euro glass was like, and didn't even look through any as I could never justify the price.
I cracked and looked through one at my first big Sydney Shot show as it was a great set-up with an elevated platform enabling me to sight through the big bright glass windows and go the full distance to the opposite side of the big horse track and further.
The scope was very impressive, and I read signage right over off the big property.

Would I pay double or more for it, not a chance, as I don,t hunt at 1,000m ranges and plenty of cheap scopes are fine for a few hundred with my eyes.

What impresses me is the top end of the mid-range scope range where some are very clear and bright; I need for nothing more.
Blokes tell me if I used one, I could never go back, or I would need one but that bloke may have much worse vision to come to that conclusion.

If a 5% clearer view cost several thousand $, I see no value at all, and would never spend that much.

I can understand with binos, if I did long glassing, just not a rifle scope that is only looked through for taking shots.

My biggest scope was only about a grand, a Bushy 6-24 Tac Elite, and it would go 800-1,000m fine.
I don't even shoot that far so it covers me.

My Meopta Meopro 6-18 is also the ticket for precision 300m shooting and varminting with my .223
It's obviously not like top Euro glass, but fine for a $600 scope, and done over a decade now.
