Why are they discontinued ??

Why are they discontinued ??

Quite a few of the Zeiss scopes that were readily available on the market are now "discontinued"

Considering they are some of the best light gatherers, rugged, dependable, and highly sought after I am wondering WHY ?

Anyone got any idea as to why ?

Discontinued by Zeiss or just not being brought into Oz anymore?

Seeing as how you mentioned it, I'm not too sure.

I'd be guessing discontinued by Zeiss.

Unless our govt considers them dangerous,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :wtf: :wtf:

It won't be a government thing :-)
It would come down to whether they're selling enough to make whatever it costs them to sell them in our market.

Yeh I'm a big Zeiss fan, own several.

as far as I can tell.

the HD5 has been replaced by the Conquest V6.
The Victory Ht has been replaced by the Victory V8

The conquest DL might be discontinued altogether.

Apparently the new Conquest line of scopes will be assembled in Japan from German components.
There will be models to suit the Euro market and models to suit the US market and us Australians will get what we get.
I also believe the Terra range is discontinued so Zeiss is no doubt finding competition is fierce in the mid price ranges.
There are two reasons why scopes are discontinued.
One is that a Marketing Brand Name places a contract order of say 50000 on a particular manufacturer and projects to sell it over a planned period. So when they are gone they are gone.
The other is where a manufacturer discontinues production of their own branded product due to diminished demand or profitability.
I had a few questions of my own but I didn't find a Zeiss stand at the recent shot show.

I herd, they used the terra range to stir up the sub $800 priced scope market, (ie take sales off leupold) & now they might be repositioning themselves as a premium only brand.

There's a V4 series now too, they are made in Japan, looked at them the other day at gunco.

So the discon hd5 is Made in Germany, 5x magnification, and cheaper than the v4 currently... hmm
