No you get a 20 dollar knock off scope to put on the 20 dollar rings mate.

Versace you are paying 800 for the name. Even Nike you paying 200 for a 100 dollar shoe. But I know a good pair of shoes is worth that for ppl with dodgy feet or who running and walking a lot, and 10 buck kmart shoes never are as comfortable, I know that from experience. Similarly a good brand jeens makes an average arse look beautiful, while $10 jeans make a gorgeous arse look like a slob.

The Chinese totally disregard patent laws, they don't apply in their country. Their M.O. is to get hold of something, reverse engineer it, then mass produce at the lowest possible cost.
By all means, if you reckon your $20 knock-offs are the same as the $200 branded ones, have at it.
As someone above has said, I'm f*cked if I'll mount a $2000 scope in a set of $20 Chinese rings.

Did you read or just post? I have both - $200 Leo’s and cheap knock offs and can’t tell a hell of a lot of difference between the two...
Suppose it matters not when I refuse to pay $2000 for a scope for my current purposes...my $1500 leopold 6.5 is as expensive as I plan on going...

Chinese quality is changing. I was in Thailand for one month, I hired a scooter for two and a half weeks to explore further afield. It was a Honda NCX 150. I didn't like it because of the style - heavy, more of a cruiser, slack steering. I was using it off road, on road, little walking tracks. Never even checked the tyre pressure because I didn't like it. It just worked. It had over 100,000km on it. I was shocked. I imagine valves have been done multiple times along with rings. Really though, this rental company didn't seem to do any maintenance - all the chains were rusty and dry on their non scooter bikes. I'd hate to see the air filters. All these bikes are made in China by Honda. No patents, it's just Honda opening up factory in China, using Chinese labour and Honda expertise. China is changing. Many believe they are on the rise to being the next superpower - just think how much they have already invested in Australia and around the world. Many of their electronics (hisense, xiaomi, haier, oppo, Changhong) are now sought after. This article is from 3 years ago: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/nake-m-k ... 44924.html. I bought Burris xtr signature rings :D I liked the multiple bolt points for solid mounting and inserts for aligning with out using up the clickers. If there were cheap rings with a good reputation I would have bought them. The americans are mostly pretty cheap - the most popular high ranking scope on amazon is under $100 US (with rings :D ) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005UGIMNQ/ref=sxbs_sxwds-deals_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=c32a1f21-f427-444c-bab6-1b04bcb652a2&pd_rd_wg=MnRuX&pf_rd_r=BNYG8HAR139W229TXX50&pf_rd_s=desktop-sx-bottom-slot&pf_rd_t=301&pd_rd_i=B005UGIMNQ&pd_rd_w=vn3yq&pf_rd_i=bug+scope&pd_rd_r=8b4b2333-3fcd-4fc7-b9ea-84c14f0a9c0e&ie=UTF8&qid=1543545546&sr=1 Haven't really heard any great recommendations on cheap rings though. And, the Americans love leupold too, but their prw rings, although pricey, are problematic.

I agree U - it’s forced change but it’s still changing.
10 years ago I bought two cheap Chinese 110cc bikes to mess around on. They broke constantly, every little thing was s**t. Bolts and threads were loose all over the thing...declared I’d never buy another.

4 years ago son comes to me, I want to learn to ride bikes.
Thought - ha, I’ll teach you about maintenance lol. Air cooled250 - $1100 to my door and I began to giggle.
Thing has never had a bloody scanner in it...has been crashed 50 times, left in mud holes, neglected is not the word...it still runs.
Said to son after 3 years - I’ll get you something decent - enter ktm 80.
If I listed everything - you’d just laugh but inside 12 hours I had a 1900 bill for a blues bottom end...a brake caliber cracked in half - $600, MC seals - leaked since day 1, and on and on ..., $6k later I sold it.
Yes....China QC is getting better.

To cloud this issue even more...

Bought a couple of sets of Vortex 'Tactical' scope rings(Picatinny) the order day.
For reasons most confusing, they sell them individually! ($45 each for 6-screw 30mm rings)
[I went and checked at the Vortex site, and this is how they package them for sale..go figure]
Bought them from Rebel Gun works, and I'm 99.9% certain they are genuine Vortex rings.

When they arrived, the boxes and the bases on the rings are labelled 'Made in China'.
Fit & finish looks to be on a par with anything I've seen from Nightforce.
They are an alloy ring. but a hefty steel cross-bolt to lock onto the rail. Very similar to the Nightfore 'Extreme Duty - Ultralite' 6-screw rings.

Then I started thinking about this thread, so I wondered if I was buying a knock-off product.
The price was around half what I'd expect to pay for rings (of the same style) from some of the other name brands.
I honestly cant fault the rings, but I found it interesting when I was checking the Vortex site.
Vortex state clearly about how their 'Precision - Matched' rings are American-made, but nothing about where these 'Tactical' rings are produced.
I've since read of a few people discovering that they have found their Vortex gear is made in either China or the Philippines, when they assumed the product was made or at least assembled in the US.
Again; I've got no problem with these rings, as they look to be very well made and finished, and a number of people tell me Vortex are really good on replacing faulty gear without fuss.

I suppose I'm just pointing out that there is quality gear also coming out of China, and so picking the knock-offs gets even more confusing...

True true Rob.
I wonder at some stage - will the older rings, the older scopes, the “genuine” hand made stuff be in demand more so than the very latest Chinese parts, Phillipines produced, USA packaged leo scopes and similar...

If you get Near mounts or rings you can be sure that they are the very best, made in Canada by a very talented gentleman. Never even been on holidays to the Phillipines or China.

Love my Alpha mount.
