To cloud this issue even more...
Bought a couple of sets of Vortex 'Tactical' scope rings(Picatinny) the order day.
For reasons most confusing, they sell them individually! ($45 each for 6-screw 30mm rings)
[I went and checked at the Vortex site, and this is how they package them for sale..go figure]
Bought them from Rebel Gun works, and I'm 99.9% certain they are genuine Vortex rings.
When they arrived, the boxes and the bases on the rings are labelled 'Made in China'.
Fit & finish looks to be on a par with anything I've seen from Nightforce.
They are an alloy ring. but a hefty steel cross-bolt to lock onto the rail. Very similar to the Nightfore 'Extreme Duty - Ultralite' 6-screw rings.
Then I started thinking about this thread, so I wondered if I was buying a knock-off product.
The price was around half what I'd expect to pay for rings (of the same style) from some of the other name brands.
I honestly cant fault the rings, but I found it interesting when I was checking the Vortex site.
Vortex state clearly about how their 'Precision - Matched' rings are American-made, but nothing about where these 'Tactical' rings are produced.
I've since read of a few people discovering that they have found their Vortex gear is made in either China or the Philippines, when they assumed the product was made or at least assembled in the US.
Again; I've got no problem with these rings, as they look to be very well made and finished, and a number of people tell me Vortex are really good on replacing faulty gear without fuss.
I suppose I'm just pointing out that there is quality gear also coming out of China, and so picking the knock-offs gets even more confusing...
