Indentify these rings...Sako...?

Post by Stix » 29 Jul 2019, 12:28 pm

Ive bought a set of rings (well they came with a used scope) & im missing a base...

Csn snyone indentify the brand of them...?
(Are they an old Sako ring or aftermarket)

And slso, any idea where & even IF might get a base from...

These came off a sako 85 & going on a diff sako 85...

The base locates in the ring, & the rear base i have has the pin that locates in the top of the action on an Sako 85...

Any advice appreciated...

Dunno...looks like they would...
But i bought the scope & apparently it was mounted in these rings, & there is little to no marks on scope.

Not sure where these rings sit in the "prefered quality" stakes of rings... :unknown:
Or even if you would lap them out given the texture inside them obviously designed to grab--but that wouldnt allow for great contact... :unknown:

Dont have the front 'base' anyway, so doubt ill ever find out...
Maybe they were mounted like this...i just dunno & the guy i bought them from isnt helpful...

Ill have to wait & get a set of sako 30mm med or high rings i think...

So if anyone has any they dont need or knows of any available...let me know...
I rather save on used than buy new if i can...

Mate - I have literally just received some Burris XTR Moa insert rings in 30mm.
They do sit a bit high...but they look decent (meaty as! Triple bolts in each side of each clamp) and I don’t need them...and they come with multiple Moa inserts and a really really fancy case lol.
Let me know if interested.

I just bought some rings for my M55 Tikka, which has the same dovetail mount as Sako, so Sako mounts fit. I have found that a normal ring mount does not give me enough eye relief with a large scope. My LSA Tikka JUST lets me put my 2-12X50 scope where I need it, so for the M55 I wanted more wiggle room on the front mount. You cannot get a picatinny rail easily for these rifles, so I had to rule that option out.

In the end I bought Sako Optilock mounts and rings. The ring sits a bit forward of the centre of the mount, so it gives a nice offset to allow more eye relief. So if you want to mount a larger scope like my 2.5-15 x56 and do not want a rail, they will be an option.

Made to mount on a picatinny rail...sorry. Just googled your problem, wasn’t clear to me until a few mins ago.
