Is the rifle lightweight or relatively heavy?
Will you walk around with the rifle a lot?
Will you use it from a vehicle?
What game are you likely to mostly pursue and when?
You may be surprised at just how useful and handy a good quality fixed 6x38/40/42 or a 3-9x40 scope may be on a hunting rifle compared to the massive contraptions that seem to be "de rigueur" these days.

Nightforce, Khales, S&B, and Leupold makes scopes that will allow you to hit stuff with your 22/250.

Can I ask why would someone go for a fixed magnification scope over a variable? Are they cheaper?

any variable magnification scope that can go up to 20x or 25x will do the job fine since the 22-250 can reach out depends if your doing target or hunting only aswell if it was only hunting max i would go is up to a 18x variable

A fixed magnification may offer better optics for the price. If you know exactly what you need there is no point changing the magnification. just like a lot of scope that doesn't have any adjustable turrets. It is only zeroed for one distance and after that its up to you to make educated guess at holdovers.

I agree that if you want a low power scope use a fixed 4 or 6x, you would do as well with one as a 2 to 7x or even 3 to 9x. If you have a 5 to 20x you can go hunting with it on 5x but if you want to snipe a a warren you can wind it up to 20x.

For me if I have a 3 to 9x I leave it on 9x all the time. I might as while have a fixed 8x.
