Sighting in Lithgow la102 .308

Post by WookyMysta » 25 Oct 2019, 7:50 pm

Greetings to all.

I'm not on here to brag, or rave on social media about how FREEKIN awesome my Lithgow .308 is. (Meopta Meopro 6-18x50)

I'm here to share my real world experiences, and gain knowledge and advice from those who are superior to me, that's all.

Shooting indoor at 50m with Federal American Eagle JHP130grn , 15 shot group of 15mm at 35mm above bulls eye.

What would this equate to at 100m & 200m. ???

I would like to zero at 200m, as most ammo seems to be zero at this range.

How many clicks down from this 50m poi would be required to be bang on at 200m. with the 130's ??????

Also, once dialed in, how many clicks up from 130grn would be needed for 150grn rounds. (Using Federal Power shock, Rem Core lokt, and S&B).

Trying to get a ball park estimate for the 130s and 150s without wasting a whole bunch of rounds in the field.

Many thanks,

Shayno.

If you know the velocity of your rounds then a ballistic app such as Strelok is your friend

Shayno,
sorry mate no easy way out - you MUST sight it in at 100m then see what the drop is at 200, 300 etc... you cant take for granted whats on the side of an ammo box.

I sight my LA102 with 140 gr hand-loads to shoot 60mm high at 100m and this gives a zero of around 230m - so out to 300m I just hold just below the backbone on a deer sized animal and shoot. I dont dial into targets - i would rather stalk in as close as i can get.
