the 42mm connecter will fit the bushnell ar
pete is right you dont need the extra power range especially when using the pard

Hi Markman. I actually measured my Bushnell AR’s before I found this thread. I had no idea if they would be a suitable scope until I saw that you said they were pretty good! Thanks

But I measured the back of the scope to be 44mm the actual focus ring is probably 45mm. Did you order the 42 mm connector separately?

no worries
l would not be able to use the bolt with your scope and the 45mm adapter fitted, maybe with very high rings
in fact l had to turn the adapter/connector around to the left side on my brno model 2 so l could use the bolt
but it works :drinks:

Just got my pard back from a friend - fitted it to a vortex diamondback 4-12 tonight and it fitted perfectly. No tape necessary. BUT then I took it outside and...crap - I don’t recall the clarity being so poor...the optics were reflecting very badly. Then I remembered what manufacturer said about multi coated lenses.

So, pulled it and quickly fitted it to a bushnell banner 3-9 and yes, needed some packing, but wow - clarity was absolutely brilliant and I quickly spotted a few bunnies. I’m going to now set this bushnell up full time and sort myself a dedicated night vision .22 rifle with infra torch mounted under stock.
One question though - how are ppl using quick focus once the pard is fitted ?

l'm glad you have found another type of scope that suits the pard for us Tassie :drinks:

how l am using the quick focus for the 22 is by putting the rifle over bags on the bonnet with a target set at the distance l want, around 35-50 yards, that seems to be about right for me from around 20 to 75 yards with the bushnell ar, you will see the difference at either end, it actually makes ranging the shot easier
the first time l had the pard out l had it set for a longer distance and had a fuzzy image at closer ranges

l have followed this blokes advice
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLAS1AsZRGE

l will be in the future buying an external IR setup from ratpaker for use on my 22-250 or 22 dasher for longer distance shots
although l'm having a ball with the pard on the model 2 at the moment

you can see in this photo its about at the limit because of the fuzzy grass ect around the rabbit

Actually MM - took out pard last night and the internal focus under the belly - although hard to operate when close to the stock - really cleans up the vision from about 40-75 as long as you say, you fold in scope close.
Frustratingly - I had 3 batteries with me last night, they all showed full charge on screen and all 3 died inside 2 minutes...pretty much ruined the hunt.
Have you or anyone else found a quality, flat positive replacement with crap loads of Millamps?

Where does the pard sit in regards to night shooting / spotlighting rules and laws ?

Maybe one day in areas where spotlighting is illegal laws may b introduced to stop night gear but until then I do my thing I mainly target pigs dogs foxes and cats so the govt is likely to encourage me to continue I think

I am pretty curious about the rules too after hearing a few too many stories of blokes using small centre fires on deer in state forests for comercial venison recovery.

I’ve read Tas legislation and be buggered if I can find anything to do with them - maybe, one can assume that the law makers would have known about them - but purposely chose not to include, nor amend, therefore - go ahead until otherwise notified...Seems it’s a bit of a hole for now.

I've been running the 007 for about 6 months now. Awesome bunny buster with the on board ir.
I have struggled with getting it to be effective with centre fire ranges. I've picked up an external IR source (good) but I struggle to find red coats with it. Any tips.
Cheers

My understanding of it is you cant have a spotlight or any night vision/thermal in deer habitat (private property excluded) 30 mins after sunset and 30 mins before sunrise....

Re: pard nv007 for chrissy

I'm glad I stumbled on this discussion re the PARD NV007. Id not considered the possibility of ever having some night vision gear given the significant price. However this NV007, which I now understand attaches to most scopes, seems to be a great 'entry level' (read this as 'poor mans') night vision 'scope'.

I am looking to perhaps add it to my 'extras' for my new Tikka T3x in 22-250. My reading so far of the above posts is that the NV007 might struggle in stock form to meet expectations of reasonable distances with the 22-250 - lets say up to 200m on fox and rabbit. Would this be the case? If so, would I need to add a stronger IR source to get out to 200m or so?

And I read that there is some criteria for what scopes it works best with. I have a range of scopes o rifles id use at night - Vixen (22LR), Leica (.308), and looking at a significant quality scope (budget maybe up to $2500) for the 250 - I'll post my queries on that in the optics category, but thinking, Meopta Otica 6, or Zeiss Conquest 4V, or Vixen 5-20. All these in magnification in the range of 20+ up to 25 or 27, mainly for day time and long targets. Plus my tiring eyes :-(

Thanks in advance.

Hey Marksman,
I just looked at the 1st page of this post (haven't looked at the other pages)
Your pics of the mods/additions you've made to the stock to get you into "position" makes me wonder that if you go to that much effort,,
Why not look at getting/making an extended rail,, and move the whole shebang forward so your position/eye relief/lop is normal ?? :unknown:

Not to mention maybe more comfy and less cumbersome.

But on the other hand I find it a bit odd that the manufacturers didn't just make them a forward mount on the scope initially.

A bit like the Pulsar FXQ50
I find these excellent in performance, and have the other needs you had on your list of being quickly and easily changed from one rifle to another
as well as being able to used as a monocular.

:drinks:

good idea DJ, l dont use the rear extras anymore as l have moved the scopes forward on the 2 rifles l use the pard on now

l cant take a photo at the moment as l'm in an airb&b while my kitchen is being redone, its only taken a month so far and cost the insurance 10k for airb&b
