Mate I have a cheap tasco, circa $250. It is good enough for messing about at the range unless you need to see .22 holes at 1000m. I just use mine out to a few hundred metres.

Yeah I agree with JimTom, you don’t need best quality for 100 yards.
But if you want to spot deer at long distance then that’s another story.

For less than $150 you could take a punt on this Vision King. I'm sure you could spot 17 cal holes at 100 with this thing.

That's the same as mine that I got a few years back, I had never noticed it was VK until you posted that, which looks eerily similar to mine, so I went and checked :-)
I bought the VK 1400m rangefinder as well after getting the 10-40x56 scope, pretty happy with their quality so far.

You mean because you couldn't get on paper, or were on but couldn't see where the holes were from the bench?

Get some decent targets instead, much cheaper. I use these at the range:

https://www.hornady.com/shop/accessorie ... ad-targets

Each shot appears white against the black background, very easy to see each shot at 100yds and even at 200.

You can pretty much make a couple hundred of them for about 10bucks. Use may black spray paint can on those plastic a4 pockets. Plus some thick bright paper as background

Don't know if you found your spotting scope yet. This one might be OK? https://www.usedguns.com.au/Product.aspx?p=168168
