I picked up my Howa 1500 (in ESS Chassis )today. I looked at the alignment and where teh three screws go in. All seems straight. I mentioned it to the LGS, he advised he had heard of that happening, but he checked mine and gave it the thumbs up as well.

I definitely think there are more MDT units that meet the mark, than don’t - mine will be sorted, eventually.

I’ve posted elsewhere, if you have the HACT howa trigger - then $20 and 10 mins of time from gunbloke on eBay...wow. I wish I could let you fire mine before and after, The difference is quite unbelievable.

Just an update after my smith spent some time sorting my faulty MDT.
So with a new scope, mounts, trigger and bedding block - I headed to private range. The orange decals are almost exact size of a 10c piece a little under half moa at 100m and I was just experimenting with 66-68.0 loads to see what might stand out. I think I’ll now start developing around the 68.0 point. Pretty happy with the outcome, it’s been a looong road to get to this point.

Looks like you're getting some good results mate. Hopefully I'l have mine together soon, my Howa action is off getting a new barrel and brake fitted. Waiting to hear about ESS chassis stock in Aus. Hopefully in the next 4-6 weeks I have a set-up ready to go.

Thanks D. It’s getting there.
As I’ve mentioned - smarter ppl than me seem to think the Howa and weatherby actions are not a great suit for the aftermarket MDT units.
I can’t speak to the pre built units but if I were buying one pre built, I’d check the interface regardless.
Depending on why you’ve bought your rifle - you could spend a lot of time chasing better accuracy not realising there is tiny Inconsistent movements in the chassis interface. As my smith said 95% of ppl would never realise an issue exists...
But hey - it would be a little boring and you’d learn nothing on the pathway, if you just bought a system and shot .3 moa all the time :drinks:

No mate - not on this occasion. Time has been hard to come by of late. Once I settle on an ocw x 3 potentials, I’ll start looking closer :drinks:

its worth the effort with sst bullets TT
my opinion is that your rifle setup has great potential being so consistent within the 3 loads
now you go the extra yards to reduce the group size
this rifle is well and truly worth a match grade barrel and reamer once this barrel is toast TT :drinks:

for group shooting a bag setup instead of the bipod would be good as well IMO
or some carpet under the bipod legs

Whilst I am a member of a Rifle club, I just shoot for fun. I dont enter the comp's or anything like that.

My groups aren't great at the moment (at 50m they were), but in saying that I am still getting used to the rifle and shots are taken at a minimum 300m distance and out to 800m. I have generally been using factory ammunition and just getting into hand loading. I also still shoot off the bipod.

In time I know in time I will be bringing those groups down. I will take your tips on board though in regard to the interface.
