G'day,

The latest Aldi catalogue includes a 'Laser Range Finder' with 6X magnification all for $149.00.

It's listed for sale on 10th July.

They are good,,,,,
I bought one on 18/4/2019,,,, and use it regularly.
I've never had an opportunity to run another brand of one side by side for comparison,,,, but I have checked it over various known
distances and it's pretty spot on.
Even if it were "off" the mark a bit,,, it's good enough for what I need.
If I wanted something millimeter perfect I would have spent a grand or more on a top of the range type unit.
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
I've come to realize that,,,,, the two most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were both canines.

It looks eerily similar to several of the name brand ones such as Leupold. I have one of those and it claims up to 1000yrds which it does on reflective targets like large targets.

I paid $75 for an Aldi one back in Feb, they slash the price in half after a while to clear old stock, no issues with mine out to 600m. :drinks:

I don't know what the current version is claiming. When mine was new I got readings on treelines a little over 700m, under perfect conditions, lots of times it wouldn't range it at all. 600m is more realistically doable under decent conditions, 500m is pretty reliable, but mine is nine years old now and I would assume the surfaces get dirty over time. In rain I haven't been able to range things much further than 250m. Mine is unbranded and just has "6x25" on the rear. It's looking pretty battered as it lived on my belt every day for a few years as a handy monocular for around the farm. I also have a Visionking 8-power 1400m one that does do better, but is a little bulkier and the buttons are on the side where they are easily pressed when leaning against things, so I don't carry it on my belt. I have carried both and they give similar measurements, which all gel with GPS and GoogleEarth measurements, certainly precise enough for shooting purposes. I lased a sambar right on 1000m across a valley last year. They use a beam which is significantly wider than a laser sight. I don't recall exactly but I think something like 5MoA diameter(?), so it's not like you're lasing tiny targets, you're lasing the area around the target. I know Bushnell had one which allowed you to tighten the beam down for small targets.
