Hi Crew,

Any Sauer 202 owners out there that can recommend or advise on a set of weaver style bases and 30mm Quick Release rings to suit the 202

TIA

Take it to a Gunsmith and have him fit a full length ( as is possible not withstanding action shape ) ) Picatinny steel rail Mil spec rail only. Not Weaver rail .
Then bring it home and using tape , cardboard packing and soft stuff like styra foam etc. set the scope you have in rough position allowing for the Objective to miss the barrel and allowing you to hold the gun and get roughly the right eye relief and cheek weld height and so once taped into position correctly you can then determine the height of QD rings needed . Measure from top of rail to centre of scope . Measure from the top of the rail to the bottom of the tube then add half the diameter of the scope tube .
I can't advise rings as so many are out of stock and you need to determine the height needed . Most quality QD rings do a reasonable job of returning to zero .
Alternatively give the gunsmith the scope and get him to also supply the rings of the right " lowest height " possible , mention that . Discuss what you want to achieve and they should be able to advise .
If you can buy a Mill spec Picatinny rail already drilled to fit a Sauer 202 or just a good quality one you could fit it yourself . Use medium strength 243 loktite . Claw type QD mounts don't need a mil spec but cam lock do .
Having a Picatinny rail gives you more options to mount other things and slide the rings in and out to accommodate different scopes . Ejection should not be a problem as the Sauer seems to eject straight back which is good . Weaver rails have smaller slots and may not take some rings .
ARMS make some nice lever cam lock 30 mm rings but everything seems to be out of stock .
There would be some European swing off or tip off mounting system , they are usually very well made , hard to get and expensive but also limited in what you can do with them .
