7615 Options?

Recently purchased a remington 7615 that will be in need of some form of optics soon.
Can't decide between a red dot or an actual scope?
Any .223 owners care to sway me one way or another with your experiences?

Just for reference will mostly be a scrub gun, don't see myself shooting past 200m with it at most (I would think 100-150 mostly).

I don’t think you’ll be keeping your 7615 for very long but anyway, fast target acquisition a compact 2-9 with a fast throw thingy on the variable thingy would be awesome.

U csn get a little dovetail mount. So that you can have a red dot beside a tube scobe the red dot sits at 45 degrees. So u can have both scopes same time. I did thst on my 7600 once

Yeah the red dot was probably optimistic at best, but thought I'd ask the question anyway.

Yeah I was leaning towards a 3-9.
Have a zero tech 3-9x40 on my cz 515, Honestly can't fault it.

If the red dot is for close-range you wouldn't need a magnifier. It can be awkward trying to set up a red dot and a magnifier as secondaries on a conventional rifle as they need a fairly long rail. And it's a lot of junk to hang off a rifle. I'd look at QD mounts so you can toss your scope in a pouch and swap in the pre-zeroed red dot when required. For a secondary I prefer a reflex sight as it's pretty compact when mounted at 45-degrees alongside the scope. Red dots and reflex sights work optimally with both eyes open so you don't really want a great lump of scope obscuring your left eye if you can avoid it, it may work better mounted above the primary optic. Flip-up back-up iron sights are another option, but most conventional hunting rifles don't have provision to mount a front sight so you need to make up something for that.

I think you need a 1-10×50 scope with a side mounted red dot,pistol grip collapsible stock,angle foregrip,combination laser/fleshlight,and 2 30 round magazines taped together. Oh,and a muzzke brake of course.
Or you can nuke em from orbit,only way to be sure....

I think people are taking the piss a bit here and that’s not very nice.
When the s**t hits the fan out there. And you are surrounded by a horde of incoming wallabies.
It’s balls to the wall and they won’t take you alive. Your life may depend on that rapid deployment tactical bipod with lazers.
A good tactical hunter has the discipline and the kit out to overcome any adverse scenario.

My set up had no magnifier. It was stricly a low powered scope on top then a red dot off to the side on the little 45 degree pic mount.

That clips over the pic rail on top of the reciever and the little red dot holo sits on the little mount. Looks a bit tacti silly but i only do it up cape york and hunting solo theres nobody around to laugh at me. And if there was they would be too scared to laugh at me because i would make them walk home

You are overthinking it. There is no setup that will provide everything for every opportunity. . Just stick a 4x or a small variable on it and get used to shooting it. You may miss something that is running and really close but there won’t be many. Pick a sight, learn to use it and go hunt stuff. The worst thing that can happen is you change it for something else.

A dominant male wallaby can easily kick that scope clean off. And then proceed to beat you around the head with it.
You need that backup angled pic rail with the reflex red dot like blr243 does. He knows what he’s doing. Duck and roll, take the shot.
Things can go from bad to worse out there fast.
