WW2 Japanese Scope

Hi everybody, I have enclosed photos of a WW2 Japanese Scope taken off a Japanese Sniper in New Guinea in 1944, can anyone identify it, I think it may be a spare Scope ? and how rare is it ?

The name is too blurry to read, can you post a clearer pic? The scope itself does not appear in any of the official Imperial Japanese equipment lists.

It looks to be a monocular not a rifle scope going by the looks of it. Cool item either way

forgotten weapons did a video on the gun and scope about 8 years ago the scopes were set up for each gun and had no adjustments and it is real common for the wrong scopes to be on the guns the numbers were supposed to match or the will be off

A simple observation of the brand name and country of origin being written in Latin script (ie: English) suggests this was a commercially made scope and was intended for export.
It has no similarity to a type 97 sniper scope but that does not preclude it's use for other military purposes.

Certainly not a rifle scope but may have been used as a spotter, The inbuilt spirit level suggests possible use with a dumpy or clinometer, The use of English script is not telling as many optical companies products were used by the Imperial Army, this is the marking on a Type 97 Machine Gun scope
