This particular scope caught my attention while I was looking for a potential replacement for the Nikko Stirling Panamax 3-9x40mm AO scope currently on my .223 Howa Mini Action.

I inspected and looked through one in person at a local shop this afternoon, but could not find any detailed reviews about it online. Could there be a significant catch to its $249 RRP?

It is a cheap Chinese made scope, it will probably work OK for many years. Not something to show off to your mates but will probably get the job done.

I bought a ZeroTech 'Thrive' scope 3-12x44 last year, to put onto my .223 Tikka CTR.
Cost somewhere around $475.
Dont really care where it's made, as long as it delivers.
Mostly shooting either off-hand or from the vehicle as a rest.

I probably rattle through 50 rounds a month on average with it, so not huge usage, but reasonable.
Works as advertised; clear optics, compact, and suits the rifle well.
Had a couple of instances where I thought the zero had wandered, but more likely it was user-error.
The scope-adjust dials are a nice size to easily change; even wearing gloves.

For what I need, it's been perfect, and I'd buy another if I needed a similar scope.

Not the same as yours; Obviously, but I've been happy with mine.
