I've always wondered about that too.
Seems like there'd be a bit of backwards dip/flex in the thing that might lead to your reticle moving up?

The alternative is a long eye-relief scope mounted forward on the rail in a true 'scout rifle' setup, but I'm sure you're already aware of that.
