Flip up scope covers for rifle any good?

Post by remnt » 23 Sep 2013, 7:26 pm

Got a little extra cash to sped and looking at a few shooting accessories.

Don't have a cover for my scope at the moment so that's an area that probably deserves attention.

What does everyone think of the flip up covers like the ones from Butler Creek? Or any other brand if anyone's got any suggestions...

Am I best with flip up covers, or sticking with the regular elastic strap on covers.

Cheers.

The flip up covers are handy, the larger ones don't seem to last though.

Plastic hinges break and wear out etc.

The few people I know who've had them the small rear cover is always nice and tight - The large front cover is flimsy and eventually breaks.

I'd stick with a regular elastic scope cover.

They're not cheap either :(

At $100 bucks a pair or whatever, you'd be pissed if they only lasted 6 months.

Exactly the problem I had for two 44mm front scope covers.

Rear covers on scopes still as new, but both front covers snapped off after 2-3 months of modest use.

Stick to elastic IMO.
