Scope choices

Post by NukeBOMB88 » 25 Dec 2014, 8:14 pm

Hey guys and gals,
I'm in the market for a new scope to replace the crappy Chinese junk on my .223 and I've narrowed it down to these :

What do you guys think? Good/bad?

If you replace it with the Nikko you are really just getting another chinese entry level scope. Don't bother its not much of an upgrade.

The Bushnell XLT and AR are supposed to be pretty good for the money. Not sure about the Weaver Kasper they have only really just come out.

What are you going to be using the scope for? 6x min is too much for walking around with. The cheaper scopes on full are not going to be too clear on full power if your spotlighting either.

A scope thats 4-12 or 4-16x would be better Quality glass always out does magnification.

Yeah I will be using it for a bit of everything so I would like a jack of all trades type scope.

The bushnells are supposed to be good though so i might decide between them in the end.

Thanks for the info zook, I'll keep it in mind. I tend to use high magnification scopes because most shots around here are between 100metres ( Under the spotlight) to during the day 400+ metres and it gets hard to see the foxes out that far so I reackon quality glass is a must :D

Just stay away from the 'Banner' models.

Not good...
Dear Santa,
Please bring me a Desert Tactical Arms SRS-A1 Rifle in .338 Lapua Magnum.
I'll be good with it, I promise!

That's a decent range I reckon.

I know 3-9x is the old favourite and "all you need" for hunting, you don't want too live field of view blah blah blah... But 4.5x is fine I reckon.

I wouldn't want to go any higher as a minimum, not the 6x of the GK, but 4.5x is fine.

My 4.5x-30x Bushnell is my 'do-it-all' and I love it.

Good choice Nuke.

I regularly shoot a friends AR which he has the 1-4x24mm and 4.5-18x40mm Bushnell AR series scopes for it depending on the shooting to be done on the day.

Good options both.
