Nikko Stirling Nighteater 3-9x42

Post by cala90 » 15 Jan 2015, 8:34 pm

Hey guys,

Looking for a scope to match to a .22LR I'll be buying in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the above scope? Seen them for over $200 but have found them for $99 (told me he can do it for $90). Or can anyone suggest anything else I should look at in the same price range?

Cheers

For $90 I'd give one a run. Haven't used one but do have cheap scopes and all are still working after many years of faithful service.

Thanks bigfella. I can't seem to find anything else in that price range so I might give it a go. Hopefully someone that's had some experience with them sees this post within the next week! 8-)

Hi Cala,

See my sig... I have the Nighteater 3-10x42. Mine was $180 I think from memory ages ago.

It's not an amazing scope but I've never had a problem. I put the crosshair on the target, pull the trigger and the bullet hits it.

That's enough, right?

Personally I'm of the opinion that it's best to spend a little more for something that will last you longer (and is usually better per $ than the cheapest option if you step up from the bottom).

Just throwing out an alternative here, I know it's more than you mentioned here, but for less than $300 you can get a Leupold VX-1 and you won't hear anyone complain about those.

Good scope, value and lasts a lifetime.

Food for thought.

I don't think I've ever seen a scope that cheap that wasn't a s**ty chinese no-name clunker.

If you can get the NS for $90 I don't think you'll find a better option elsewhere for the price.

I like the Jap Tasco's - I run a 4x and 6x fixed on 2 of my 22's and the latest one will be wearing a 3-9x44 Tasco (philippines made) which is a bloody nice scope too (very clear and sharp).

You could also look at the Nikon Range, they have some good scopes for the $$ - I use a 3-9x50 Prostaff on my 204 Howa and its a bloody good scope for the $$.
