Aimpoint

Post by Sam45 » 18 Apr 2015, 6:30 am

Hey Guys,

Anyone have/had any experience with the Aim-point scopes? Looking at getting one for my next rifle. Pro/ cons Most of what is on the interwebs is aim-point them selves or in another language on You Tube lol

Cheers

Sam

Aimpoint H34S Hunter 1X on a T3 Lite .30-06.

No parallax error, 2 MOA red dot, 12 brightness settings on the red dot. I had it for about 4 years and the battery is still going strong. Very light yet and handles recoil no problems. POA has not deviated, waterproof.

I've taken it out to 200 yards but generally it's used from 50-100 yards. I belief they are worth about $870.00 now plus the rings. So about $1000.00 all up for a 1X scope. Well worth it.

Cheers mate. Thanks for the info. Will certainly be grabbing one for my next rifle. Looks the goods on top of the rifle too  One more question, do you need a Picatinny rail to mount the scope? Or just use the rings that are supplied?

Just use the 34 mil rings supplied. No need for a rail.

They're not a cheap optic, no surprise really that the web isn't overflowing with reviews.

It's not a $250 Leupold, know what I mean?

I've has a gander through a couple of them at the LGS but haven't used thoroughly enough to give much of an expert review. Looking good in what I have seen though.

Users reviews when you find them are good too (as said above). If you can afford

A few reviews on youtube, but not in engrish lol.

From what i have seen and read, they seem to be a good bit of kit. My Leupold scope was $830. The Aimpoint is $877

There are reviews from USA and Europe on Youtube...plenty of other video channels around to. Not one bad word is said about them. It's a 1X scope priced at about $1000.00 all up with rings, hunting version. The military version costs a lot more.

Leupold don't come even close to the quality of Aimpoint.

Aimpoint and Eo Tech are the 2 best brands for red dot type optics, they cost more yet last longer than other cheaper brands.

You can keep both eyes open which is a huge advantage,Aimpoint has excellent battery life measured in years.

Great for quick target acquisition,a decent scope is better for absolute precision if taking your time.

My thoughts too. $877 with rings included from Aimpoint. My other scope cost a grand, so this one is cheaper

Called QldG'E' and they just order from Beretta Aus;
therefore you will need to buy the rings separate at $120 for aftermarket or $150 for Aimpoint rings to match.

You had my wallet frothing for a moment.

Any measurable benefit in getting the AP brand rings out of curiosity?

I doubt it, but I guess as per usual it mostly comes down to mounting height etc.

What do you mean? I use Meopta Meostar R1 4-16X44 on my .204. The Aimpoint scope suits the purpose, expensive...but that has little to do with it.

For such an expensive and high quality sight I'd always use original mounts. At least you can be sure the alloy is of the right grade and the locking elements will hold the sight in place hence zeroed.
