So the first of my two purchases arrived today. An old Burris Fastfire.

I was amazed by how tiny and light it was fo I whipped the Bushnelm 6500 off my 7-08 and weighed them back to back, 707g V 45g. Haha. No contest for weight but a 1X red dot wind do what a 2.5-16 is capable of beyond 50m

Well as long as the Bushnell was off the 7-08 a dropped the Burris on in a couple of positions. Curious to hear where people have them mounted, forward felt strange at first while all the way to the rear felt more natural

This one won't stay on this gun but I think I'd give the Eotech I've got coming a run at the range for sure and maybe on a deer hunting trip.

Just got back from the range. Really pleased with the results, unfortunately I forgot to take some binoculars to work out where I was hitting whilst sighting in, so I'll need to go back for a final sight-in.
Rifle seems to be grouping well considering it has a 2MOA dot and no magnification. I think this setup will be perfect for my next deer hunt in August.
The rifle didn't kick to bad considering its lite weight.

A late update on the red dot.
Great for last hunt for the year (October 2015). Super quick to get on target. However, had a couple of instances where a bit of magnification was needed (200m plus).
I have since replaced the red dot with a Leupold ultimate 2-7x 33. It will be interesting to see the difference.

Next deer hunt is in a week and a half.

I use a red dot on my Henry 22. Makes snap shooting up to 60 m a dream. Bunnies and Mynah birds don't like it.
