Reflex sight or red dot for Mosin scout setup.

So i have been toying with the idea to set up a sporterized Mosin-Nagant carbine with the either red dot or reflex site mounted in the scout configuration at the location of the original rear sight.
I already have an optical sight installed in there so the weaver base is good and ready to go.

Initially I was going to go with a reasonable quality red dot (Bushnell trs-25, etc), but the more I think of this the more I am keen on Eotech 512 or similar. I realize that the cost comparison ratio might be somewhat unusual, but costs aside, how do you think the proper reflex would work on the heavy caliber bolt gun?

The intention would be to use this rifle/sight combination as a pointy pig gun intended for the up to 100-150 meters distances.

I've got an Aimpoint Hunter on my .30-06....no problems with the recoil.
Browning BL-22 lever action...open sights
T3 Varmint .204 Ruger...Meopta Meostar 4-16X44
T3 Lite .30-06 Sprg...Aimpoint Hunter 1X red dot

....that will do me

A Mosin isn't what I'd call "heavy" in terms of a quality scope absorbing the shock. Won't be a problem at all.

A 2/4 MOA dot scope will be fine for out to 150m too. Good hunting :D

+1

Even the 4MOA dot, still only 4" at 100m covered. Fine for game.

Not sure how much value to 2MOA ones are for the extra $$$$

I am now in the States visiting Disneyland and local gun stores and not quite sure what to do. I can get a 2 moa red dot for $190 which is generally given great reviews. http://www.holosun.com/store/index.php? ... duct_id=78

Alternatively, I can buy Eotech 517 for $400.

Eotec seems to be very cool, but the question is how stupid or not would it be to fit sporterized mil surplus bolt action rifle with Eotech sight.

Not quite sure what to do.

A red dot is a red dot.

Who cares what the scope it's mounted in looks like, tacti-cool or not you're just looking through the middle of the thing

Nice indeed.

And about $800 here so you got it for the right price.
