Buying a Nikko Stirling Nighteater

Post by tuffstuff » 30 Oct 2013, 6:06 pm

Guys,

I've got an old Bushnell Banner which is on it's last legs. It's copped a few knocks and is about worn out.

I'm looking at a Nikko Stirling Nighteater scope as a replacement, thinking of the 6-24-44.

My local doesn't have any in stock, and I would have to pay before they would order one in. Trying to track down somewhere with 1 in stock before I order but thought I'd get you guys feedback while I search around.

How do they go?

It'll be a step up from your Banner.

Bushnell make some good scopes, but I can't say IMO than the banner is really one of them.

Other than saying that I don't really have much praise for them.

Got a budget? Open to other suggestions?

Hi guys.

I don't want to spend a fortune. No more than $400 would be good...

Open to other brands though, just looking at Nighteater's after seeing a couple of ads really...

Check out Weaver scopes IMO.

They do a 6.5-20 x 44mm which retails for about $340 or something.

Great scope for the money I reckon...

I use them(I have three various), they do the job. Only really good till about 20 times magnification. I had an issue with one, sent it back and it was exchanged without argument.

They aren't top of the range but they aren't throwaway rubbish either.

You should be able to get one posted to you for about $220 including post, my LGS has them for around $350, he has to be kidding.

A little while ago I ordered the RCBS chargermaster combo from interstate and got it for $520.

My local had it for $795 and wouldn't budge on price

TS save some more $$$ and maybe look at a Vortex Viper or a Vortex HS scope.

I rate the vortex too.

Nothing terrible about the Nighteaters, but better scopes available for not much more cash.

I've got the Viper HS 4-16x44mm.

Great scope for the money.
