ATN X-scope 3-12

Post by Goshawk » 12 Dec 2015, 6:11 pm

HI ALL,
has anyone had any experience with a ATN X-scope in either 3-12 or 5-18?
Do they need an IR torch to be effective?
Are they worth the 1K cash?

Cheers

I had the 5-18 and ended up returning it for a refund. It's always the "Next" firmware release that'll fix the problems except that it never did so after 5 months I got my money back. Save up a bit longer and buy the Pulsar NV product as they are better supported and work as advertised.

That's disappointing, which variant of pulsar NV would you recommend? Only needs to be good out to 100-150m, or am I asking too much from such a product?

I will buy a Pulsar DFA75 in the future as it will clip on to your existing day scope so no stuffing around swapping scopes and can be easily swapped from rifle to rifle which really appeals to me. Whilst the ATN has some great features such as GPS geotagging and compass these suck the batteries dry very quickly and at the time I returned mine these "Features" had been disabled in a firmware update with no eta on a fix. The ATN has an alloy body unlike the plastic used by Pulsar but the biggest positive I see with the Pulsar is the external battery jacks on most units. I fly RC multi rotors as well for a hobby so I bought a plug from Jaycar and made a LiPo pack that powers the thermal for a weeks worth of shooting without a recharge. With the ATN you'll be buying the bulk 30 pack of AA's when Woolworths has them on special.

I had the NV770a which I sold to a member here because my thermal turned up after almost a year of waiting.

Title_II made a good post about the various technologies you may want to review..

Funny how many updates break things that were working perfectly before :problem:
