The most you'd spend on a scope

Post by scrolllock » 16 Nov 2013, 5:30 am

I was reading up on some short range scopes and looking at the Kahles K16i in 1-6x24

Got a bit ahead of myself and decided it would do, then found the price of $2,800 US  Too much for me...

If you're doing real long range I get the need for an expensive scope, for such smaller zoom hunting range though that really up there.

Somebody's obviously buying them, but not me.

How much is the most you guys would pay for a scope and feel your actually getting your monies worth?

I'm in the process of getting a bushnell 6-24x50 and i'm paying ~$1100. everything I've read about it says it is pretty decent for the price.

I reckon about $1,000 - $1,100 is the ceiling for me.

There are so many good scopes at that range there's no reason I'd spend any more.

$2,800 for some massive zoom range, maybe...

For a 1-6 though that's a bit rich

No kidding.

Like Techc said, plenty of fine scopes at the $1,000 mark.

I could stretch to $1,500 if there was something amazing.

They'll never get 3k out of me for a scope though.

I plan on spending about $2200 on my next rifle scope but that's considerably more than I've spent on one before

The secret to getting your purchases approved quickly is to cook dinner and do the washing up. Works every time

A new scope?

No?

No, that's the same one that's always been on there..."

I'd try this for the new Browning T-Bolt and BLR lever action that I want, but I think she'll notice when 2 whole new rifles turn up in the safe

If she doesn't have a key to the safe, it could be a goodly long while before she notices if you are sneaky enough about it.

On topic ; I would spend as much as I could afford whilst taking into account things like warranty etc.

Just brace yourself for the inevitable fallout when she eventually finds out you bought two new guns.

Sneak in some enjoyment in the mean time

Sound advice.

A good scope lasts you forever so a few extra $$$ if possible is a good investment.
