Quick release scope returning to zero

Post by Hinky » 16 Nov 2013, 5:40 am

I'm thinking about a rifle (not decided) yet with iron sights and quick release scope mounts so I can switch between the two as needed or for some fun instead of having to remove and reinstall a scope over and over...

For the quick release scopes, how accurate are they when reseating them?

Do they truly go back to zero or do you have to adjust them a little after each seating to correct the zero?

I've heard that if you spend the money and get decent rings they are pretty good. a mate of mine has Leupold ones and does exactly what your planning to do and says their fantastic and has never had a problem.

Yep, silladas right, especially a Weaver rail.
I only saw this happen up at the range a week ago.

Guy turned up with his Target rifle, no scope fitted, mounted the scope and was right on the spot, immediately.
Obviously you need to fit things exactly each time but i was sold.

There is some loss of zero with the quick detach stuff.

.5 MOA variance is considered "good" from most.

You can get less shift if you buy a top end set, but that's $$$

I would hate to see the "bad" variance ones...
