Nightforce SHV

Hey Guys,

Just purchased a .270 and the scope I have on it is just not doing it for me. It's a Zeiss 4x12-42 Terra. Really good on the .223 or I may be going blind. I keep going back to the SHV in the 4x14-50 F1.

Am I going from one extreme to the other? I don't mind dropping the money on it, just hope and would like some advice if it would be suited to the .270. Will be doing all sorts of hunting with it. Have looked at the Steiner scopes as well, but not a lot about them and people I have spoken to know little about them.

Cheers

Sam

Yes fair call. I keep going back to it. It's a lot of coin to drop on a scope. As you say though you will have it for a very long time.

I bit the bullet and purchased the Nightforce scope. To say I'm impressed is an understatement

Quality rifle with a quality scope, the way it should be. Good choice and report back your impressions once you get some shots through it. I'm sure many here would appreciate some honest feedback on this range of scopes.

Heading to the range on Saturday. I did have another scope on it and had it on paper, not really doing it though.Just needed to put something better so I can see..... Also if I need to take a shot with a bit of distance I have the right gear. Have about 4 different brands to run through it. Will find the one it likes and will report back on the weekend.

Yes the scope  I have looked through it out to 900 yards without an issue, blew me away to be honest. I have not looked through it firing though. Range was closed last week when I picked it up. I compared it to the Steiner,Swarovski ( neither FFP ) and I found the NF in FFP was the best in image and clarity when pushing the distance. Don't get me wrong, the other 2 were great scopes. What also swayed me was the fact it doesn't matter what magnification your own, it's all the same. So just adjust for drop and use the reticle for windage, or use reticle for both.

When getting close to $2K and up for a scope it's a big call  The NF was $1520 and is made in Japan. Build quality is top notch. Zero stop along with Illumination and and FFP are simply hard to beat.

Overall I'm stoked with my purchase, awesome rifle and scope to match. Now to get to Victoria and go stalk some big Sambar :P What I bought this rifle for.
