Scope for a .22 magnum

Post by BRNO_Bigot » 17 Dec 2016, 7:05 pm

Well gents, I was messing around on eBay the other day and I was looking for a scope for my new CZ 455 .22 WRM - unexpectedly a Vortex 4-16x40 Diamondback jumped into my cart. It seems to be really nice, and should fit the rings/ mounts I have.

The question is - what do the learned colleagues think of this scope and this calibre?

I would have gone in something fixed 6x40 to keep the rifle compact, but the Vortex will do alright.

I have two diamondback scopes. They are good set and forget scopes and not over the top as far as size and weight go. You will likely find that you find a particular setting and end up using it on that rather than adjusting mag all the time.

Thanks guys

I think we are (in general) more in agreement than getting into fistfights.

I have a .17HMR that I have a fixed 6x40 Meopta on. I have also noticed that the Leupold 2-7x33 I have on my Dirty-nought-six appears to spend most of its time on 2.5 - 3.0 power.

Reason I lashed out for it was the price. And then I started to think ..... (what now, where, on what ....)

Anyway it seems like it might be a decent fit.

That's a good range for a 22 mag.

4x for good field of view hunting, 16x is plenty of zoom for the max range of the cartridge.

Let me know how it goes, looking at putting one of these on my .222 REM.

Would suit a .222 well, too.
