Offset iron sights for sporter bolt action

G'day guys,

I like the idea of the 45 degree offset iron sights you see on AR15 setups and others where they have a million picatinny rails to bolt everything they could ever want on.

This is for a regular sporter rifle though, no rails... Do they do such a thing for a 'regular' rifle?

Just looking at it for fun, no other real reason.

Your problem would be attaching them. Short of a picatinny rail I think it would be a PITA to attach the sights. I know there are mounts made that let you see through below the scope so you can still utilize the iron sights of the rifle.

You would need to have a gunsmith add a rail so you could add your sights.

Never heard of any clamp on barrel ones or something like that if that's what you're fishing for?

i think you been playing to much BF4 mate.

i don't think you can get them plus why there are far better things to throw wadds of cash at like strippers.

just what ever you do don't go down the dot point scope avenue the civillian market ones are rubbish, If your shooting at short ranges ie pig hunting diel your scope back to low power (2x x4max) and just have both your eyes open, it pretty trippy all you then see is the cross hairs of your rifle, it probubly better on a lower setting like 2x though other wise it gets really confusing.

Iv played it it pretty unrealistic, though FPS Russian is talking about making his own FPS shooter so it should be really good. unfortunately he's blown up his producer again and the product is on hold due to the fact he is being held captive by the russian mob/ so it probably be released some time next year latest. .

I have seen a few sets on fullbore rifles, made for people blind in the right eye but still shooting right handed.

There were a few home made jobs for apeture sights and one very rare Central branded offset apeture(Imagine a totally reversed sight clamping to the normal mount for a central sight-yep a real mind blow, I know where it is and will dig it up next time I am there and take a photo) but one bloke(now deceased) had a proprietry offset weaver rail for his scope .

Very effective.

My fav is the scope on the Savage 110 in the movie Riddick (dunno if you know the one, but anyway...)

The scope is on hinges and quickly folds to the side so you could look down the barrel. That would be great on a hunting sporter with regular iron sights.

I did a bit of searching on it an apparently it was customised for the movie, but not an actually scope setup that's available :(

Not off the shelf at your local gun store anyway. Maybe a military thing...
