Scope light suggestions?

Post by RumPlz » 29 May 2017, 6:13 pm

Hi All,

Have recently purchased my first rifle (American 22lr) and was wondering if you could give me suggestions on a scope light?
I have heaps of rabbits at my place and wouldn't mind going for a walk around with the torch mounted to the scope.

Thanks!

Olight M22 would work perfectly for you.

I have one for the 22lr and an Olight M3X for the 223rem.

I have an olight m23 for the same use that you require.
cracking little light.
Excellent light throw out to 200 meters.
a remote switch is available on eBay for about $20.

For a rimfire, get a $20-$30 job off eBay. More than enough light, comes with a recharger and pressure switch.

A mate of mine a while back had some $300 Led Lenser on his .22

More than the second hand rifle was worth

By the way. I have ditched the "scope mounted" idea and have installed a small rail under the fore-end (side of the fore-end on an older stock that i have since passed on) and will do the same on all rifles i use for solo spotlighting with a rifle mounted torch.

Why?
- I have found (for one reason or another) that mounting the light on the scope can adversely affect POI.
- Light mounted on the scope illuminates smoke after the shot, effectively blinding you and making it difficult to keep track of the animal and take a follow up shot if required. Mounting on the fore-end mitigates this issue considerably although does not completely nullify it.
- The rifle remain better balanced and is less distracting with out bit hanging off the scope while you take aim.

Just my 2 bob's worth.
