By the way. I have ditched the "scope mounted" idea and have installed a small rail under the fore-end (side of the fore-end on an older stock that i have since passed on) and will do the same on all rifles i use for solo spotlighting with a rifle mounted torch.
Why?
- I have found (for one reason or another) that mounting the light on the scope can adversely affect POI.
- Light mounted on the scope illuminates smoke after the shot, effectively blinding you and making it difficult to keep track of the animal and take a follow up shot if required. Mounting on the fore-end mitigates this issue considerably although does not completely nullify it.
- The rifle remain better balanced and is less distracting with out bit hanging off the scope while you take aim.
Just my 2 bob's worth.
