The cost of shooting gear really going up...

Post by ghunther » 19 Dec 2013, 8:31 am

Bit of a shock this morning when shopping for browsing through some supplier websites.

A few months ago I was looking at the Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42, and it was $930 or something like that from memory.

Stumbled across it this morning on the same website, now $1,130 for the same thing

I noticed a few rifle prices have gone up a bit here and there too.

The US is putting the squeeze on Aussie suppliers I guess?

Bugger...

The pro-gun yanks have been in a permanent state of panic over gun control for decades, I don't expect see it change any time soon... If ever.

Can't say that I've noticed anything going up by that much... Certinaly not a 20% hike...

Your local store raising its margins maybe...

Need to wait for the latest scare in the states to buy down so they stop stock piling gear.

A little less demand and prices should get more competitive again.

I was talking to one of the guys at my LGS yesterday, apparently a few of the importers/wholesalers have changed here in Aus over the past couple of months which has led to some shortages.

Old wholesalers running out their stock and new supplier not fulling running yet. That's contributing to a few things too.
