Yeah OB, it's IR. It luckily comes with a remote controller so the USB port isn't a drama. It also has a tv/av plug so you can watch any video you take with it on your telly.

Maybe in a few days or week would you mind popping a few sample pics up. $60 is pretty cheap so may get one

My Aldi Wildlife camera, model WK4hd (5MP) has "Impressively quick shutter release time(0.5sec)." And a "Wildgame" camera - "less than 1 sec."....

This speed works for me - haven't captured Superman "(faster than a speeding bullet)" yet but for dogs, foxes, cats and bush turkeys and bloody cane toads, works great....

PS. neither came with SD cards but the Aldi came with batteries.

I've been using the Aldi for stills only but no problems so far, other then wind and swaying bushes.

I usually double check that I've got in sighted on the target, could've been the problem.

Mate I think you will find you get more condensation on the coke bottle inside than any due making it hard to see out past the bottle.

True. There was condensation on the underside of the bottle.
I actually put it on the other night because it was spitting on and off and I don't trust the claims of water resistance on a $50 cheapy.

I cut the bum out of a green Aldi laundry bottle and used it, no worries re condensation but have it in the shade, keeps the rain of too. That's a fancy set up, tripod and all I just use a couple of cable ties - "tactical black".

I just got a mental picture of it with a condom on, the little point on the end and the roll at the opening would make it look like it was wearing a really kitschy beanie

Oh Yeah and they come in a choice of colours, including "midnight black" or that's what the sign says in the servo toilet.

Could any of you help me with what sort of trail cameras are or would be good for keeping tabs on animals on a track
It only needs to take stills but out to 15-25yds or a little bit further if possible
With time and date shown on it
Not too expensive but reliable
I've never used one before I usually sit and wait for them but the mongrels scrubbers have found out there are seven days in a week and choose any
two to move around
I'm too old and get too cold to sit out in the wet and cold for long periods any more so my family has convinced me a trail camera would help to cut those
cold and wet hours back a little
Thanks for any help men...……..and or ladies

Hey OB,
Yes, despite a couple of niggles.
1st, they say on the listing that it has a 12MP CCD but on the box it says 3MP, no biggie as I'm not looking for printable quality, and after I gave them a little WTF Chuck about that by email they refunded $20 of the $60 price.
2nd, and this may be just the one I received, the USB port is set too deep for the plug to engage, again no biggy because you can set it up using the included remote.
My one reservation is the 1sec timer lag to trip the camera.
I don't know what set it off last night, I put the tripod on the top of my back steps to capture the roo that seems to like to poop there, but all I got were several shots of an empty yard and my clothesline. Perhaps rabbits that were in the motion detector field but below camera view.
All up, for the price, yes for the casual user like myself it does the job.
I haven't tried the video yet.
I have set it in a different spot tonight so I'll post any captures tomorrow.

Placed one on order. Should be fine for my need. The last one I got was a dud. This one seems much better.

Well I didn't get the roo, but I think that's a fox. I had to do some enhancing to bring it up, the claimed 65 feet of illumination range is a bit exaggerated, the "fox" is no more than 10m away.

A final note on the trail cam.
My biggest worry about it was the full-second trigger time, which has unfortunately turned out to be a valid issue.
The unit has been at various locations about the place, all of which are visited by something several times during the night, it has taken many photos of empty darkness to prove that there was movement there.

I then did some tests on myself as you can see the IR LEDs glow dimly when it takes a shot. At normal walking pace, and 5m distant from the camera I was 3m out of shot when it triggered, at half pace I was still out of shot. Only if I walked into range and stopped there did it get me.

With this in mind, I haven't bothered trying to get any video.

Handy for catching the locals having breakfast though.
