Loctite - Yes or No???

I have a couple of screws that hold the rear sight plate on my optic ready shadow 2 that have been backing out during range sessions. This causes the rear sight plate to wiggle a bit. I have hand tightened to a point that im not wanting to go further for fear of stripping the threads out. but given a few range trips, they start to back out again and aim starts to wander with wiggly rear sight.

Is this something that requires a few drops of Loctite. Or is that not recommended. I have asked a few people and currently the count seems pretty evenly split between the yea and nay. Any thoughts or suggestions... If Loctite, is it just a few drops of the Blue thread locker????

Yes, I am in the blue camp.
Virtually all sight screws on my handguns are done with blue loctite.

I have used Loctite 243 for rings etc, which I believe is about midrange as far as strength goes. Although it takes a little more effort, screws can still be undone if needed. I am still unsure if there is any advantage to it mate. I know plenty of people who don’t use it and haven’t had any issues.

yes you wont find things are loose till you need it

Another option is to do up your screws as tight as you are game then put a little dab of clear nail polish on them. I believe that this process is often used with eye glasses to stop screws coming loose and losing them.

Easy to remove with acetone/nail polish remover

Purple or blue loctite will do the job, i use it and have never had an issue.

Yes from me. I degrease the threads best I can, then put a small amount on.
