Help with identification of Hills Patent Self extractor

Post by alec.purvis » 11 Jun 2019, 6:47 pm

Hi

Can anyone please help me with any information regarding the attached "Hills Patent Self Extractor"pistol.

It belonged to my Great Great Grandfather originally and was last registered under my Grandfathers collectors license. My Grandfather has since passed away and i have had some difficulty getting it registered in my name. Weapons Licensing QLD have advised i should be able to have it registered as an antique due to the age however i need to prove the ammunition is not commercially available.

i have looked into the Hills Patent self extractor and mostly what comes up is a variety of auctions with pistols which do not look like this one and in a variety of calibers .45, .320, .380 etc.

id very much appreciate any advice you could give.

cheers.

You should do a cast of the chamber.
As it appears to be a rimfire revolver, I would guess one of the .38 Rimfire cartridges.

Can you confirm if yours is centrefire or rimfire?

This one is in .38 S&W which is a centrefire cartridge, and I saw a pinfire one as well.
