Waiting time in Cat H PTA's. "referred for adjudication"

Post by Weeteelabah » 04 Sep 2022, 5:57 pm

Hi ,
I currently have a pta for a category H that has been sitting with the registery for 24 days now with referred for adjudication against it.
I have been shooting for many years now , have an event number that I supplied but have never waited so long for approval.
Is this waiting period now normal ?
Once I remember that if you already had a license for the appropriate category a pta went through really quickly.
I am just curious if anyone has any feedback.
Cheers

Weapons licensing are way behind, this article tells some of the story:

Wrong state, not QLD, that's a NSW status

Best posted in the relevant firearms laws section really

Have you spoken to an official at your club? As they also need to approve each PTA before the registry does.

I had the same issue. Spoke to both my Club and FAR. FAR said they were waiting for confirmation from my Club but they had already submitted the documentation and had received confirmation from FAR that they had received it. So the ball got dropped somewhere along the line. I would phone both and see what each says and then try and connect the two if the wires have been crossed.

Just an update for anyone waiting / interested, my NSW cat H PTA was lodged exactly a month ago and has updated to Issued status today.

The difference with this as opposed to previous PTAs I've submitted (apart from the time it took) is that it did not appear in the FAR licence check portal until the day it was issued, and was in "referred for adjudication" in the Gun Safe portal for almost the full 28 days.

Thank you Pchmm, exact same story for me. Still in "Referred for adjudication" for me though. 25 days and counting.

Pretty normal, cat H PTA's are manually processed at a snails pace.
Month wait time is normal
