Any advice on a handgun for a beginner please. Western Australia, rimfire, less than $3000.
Thanks.

Dunno about $3000;
Would buy a good second hand Ruger Mk pistol, they work, are reliable, accurate and you will never has any issues getting magazines parts or reselling it down the track - $500 will get you something good. Get some extra magazines, buy a case of CCI standard and go forth and have fun.

Otherwise if you want to spend some serious cash I would probably be buying something specific to what you want to shoot.

Unless you want something for some specific competition I'd go with a Ruger.

What matches are you interested it? $3000 will get you a nice ISSF pistol like a Walther, Pardini, Hammerli, etc.
