Any .45ACP pistol which is not 1911 replica?

Hello everyone,
I'm after your recommendations in .45ACP pistols which are not another (with all my respect to) 1911 replica.
Cheers

G'day MRadd,
I wouldn't recommend because I really like the 1911 platform, but I also shoot revolver in 45ACP. Among other auto loaders in 45ACP there are the Bren10, H&K23, Hi-Point JHP, several Glocks, FN FNP, CZ97B, Beretta Px4, Savage M1906 Trials (expensive) and Luger, both modern and original Trials (sell both kidneys) I also have a Ballester Molina but that is a 1911 in basic appearance.

If you're going to shoot .45ACP I would stick to the 1911, otherwise there's no reason to mess with the fat old cartridge at all :-)

Having the fat grip of a double-stack .45 isn't worth it now that you're restricted to 10rds anyway, the slim feel of the 1911 is it's best feature I reckon.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Sig 220.

An FN FNX 45 ACP is a decent pistol as well.

If you like Glock you can always go for the 21.

I'm not the biggest fan boi for the 1911, but for whatever reason I shoot them very well. I was looking the other day at a Springfield "mil spec" one for $650.

Me too, just want something different.

Thanks a lot for that shortlist. Do you know if any of these are available for purchase in AU? especially CZ97B - this one I already keep in mind (unfortunately looks like this model discontinued already.

Is 1911 the only .45 ACP with a single-stack magazine?

I think there are some compact carry guns that are single stack but they wouldn't be legal here for sport.

Looks like this guy Sig Sauer P220 has a single-stack magazine but... only 8 rounds

And 112mm barrel but they might offer a longer one.
According to Wiki they offer 10rd mags for it.

Yes the Sig 220 has a standard 8 round magazine but you can get extended 10 round mags for it. The 10 round magazine has a grip sleeve on the bottom of it. And it is single stack. The Sig 227 is essentially the same pistol but is a slight double stack 10 round magazine. I doubt that is for sale in Australia but maybe.

HK45 and USP might be worth looking at also, both come in threaded barrel options so would be legal for sport use here.

Do SIG still make the p220 as I have been looking and unfortunately The Importer here does not even list them only 320 and 1911 and I absolutely hate striker-fired Pistols was after a P226-in 9 mill as well but again they don't list them either the only one they listed a P226 22 Rimfire with the threaded barrel.

I have an H&K USP Expert in 45ACP, 6in barrel, but does have a fairly big grip, it shoots OK but not brilliant and will take, quite happily just about any of the loads I choose to use (normally 200gn LSWC with 6.0gn AP70) but I do play with other powder loads (particularly at the moment) such as AP50, AS30 and have played with AP100 and Trail Boss. I liked 5.5gn Trail Boss but can't get it anymore.

They still make the P220 but looks like they only offer a few different variations of it now compared to about 10 years ago when they offered 20 different flavors of it. They also make the P226 in 9mm. Unfortunately I found out this morning they had discontinued the P227 which was a P226 in 45 ACP.
