Hi all, a bit of a question for all the pistol owners out there...
A newbie to pistols and have never really looked into getting one, but!

In any state can you use a pistol to hunt on your own property? If not why isn't it allowed?

Nope. Specifically prohibited, range use only, and only at pistol ranges too.

Ok, thanks..so not being one to go to ranges makes it a bit silly to even bother owning one...

That's why I haven't bothered getting back into handguns, it would suck having to go to a range every time I feel like doing some shooting.
If you give IPSC a try though it is bloody good fun.

As your question was "in any State", there is an allowance for stockmen in WA to carry a handgun at work when mustering and yarding livestock, but that's all the Act allows, it does not confer permission to hunt. From memory both Qld and the NT allowed handgun hunting some years ago, but this was knocked on the head even before 1996 as I seem to recall, maybe wrong about the dates.
