Ruger 22/45 ammo or gun problem

Post by Jasonf » 26 Feb 2017, 1:40 pm

G'day
I have a new ruger 22/45 mk3 that will occasionally have problems with feeding and ejection of rounds. I was doing a comp the other day it jammed and when I cleared the round it looked like this

. Can anyone tell me if This is an ammo or gun problem. The ammo I'm using is Winchester m22.
Cheers

How many rounds thru it ?

My 22/45 mk3 does that occasionally with CCI sv but not so much now it has 500 rounds thru it.
The CCI are waxy tho, clean the feed ramp.

I'm no expert , but it looks like it was bitten by the slide. Was it manually ejected? Or did it happen when being fed?

Bigm it has probably had maybe 200-250 rounds through it. ($50 bucks mite get you a hold :-)
Supaduke it was manually ejected after a jam during a 5 round fire, that was round 3.

I'm going to the range again this week end with a few boxes of different brands of ammo to see how it performs.

Looks like a feeding problem to me. While ammo could be partially responsible, I'm going to say she just needs more rounds fed through her to break her in.

Shoot more, clean more, lube less.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

Ok after going back to the range and taking along 4 different types of ammo I have concluded that Winchester m22 ammo is the problem. After 40 rounds of m22 I had 2 miss fires another round that looks like the picture in my first post and 5 miss feeds and jams. My pistol seems to like Cci sv, it was the best performer on the day. Not that the federal or hws subsonic were bad performers either. I had no miss feeds or jams or miss fires with any of it except m22.
