I wouldn't recommend it to someone new to firearms or not used to shooting pistols well. For myself I find the Glock full auto easy to hold on target but then I have a lot of experience and know what to expect. If you shoot one, I would start with a magazine of a few rounds and see how it is first before you go a full mag.

It's like running an exotic car or racing car, it's fast and fun, but you will go through tons of parts and money, as well as ammo too. That's why here in the USA, realistically due to the prices of transferable machine guns, visit a rental range, let someone else have all the hassle of maintaining them.

I was leaning into it standing up and it would push you back over a course of fire until no longer on target and I would have to reset.

It can be shot one handed if you have the muscles of Ahnold or Rambo, not that you would hit much, probably. Especially easier if it's the E3 or E6 model which is about 5 pounds lighter. Personally myself I usually shoot it from the hip two handed.

The thing to remember with the 60 is that it tends to jump up high and right about the third and fourth round.

In actual practice anyways with current US military doctrine, these types of belt fed machines are usually fired in 3 or 5 round bursts at a time, usually at least two machine gun fire teams working in unison. Not to say they will not run a 50 or 100 belt through in certain situations, but mostly the guns are used to fire bursts.

A submachine gun (SMG) is a magazine-fed, automatic carbine designed to fire pistol cartridges. The term "submachine gun" was coined by John T. Thompson, the inventor of the Thompson submachine gun.

There's a post on The Firearm Blog about a Hollywood gun Auction, Arnies SPAS 12 was apparently modified for one hand action- 1474. Arnold Schwarzenegger “Terminator” Franchi SPAS-12 Shotgun Serial Number AA5876 from The Terminator.(Orion, 1984) Franchi SPAS-12 shotgun prop with serial number AB3482 with folding stock and modified to shoot blank rounds. Highly visible when the “Terminator” (Schwarzenegger) uses the shotgun to steal weapons from a gun store clerk. The folding stock was removed for use in the unforgettable chaotic and deadly, “I’ll be back” scene at the police station. The property master rigged the rear sling mount with a black cord that attached to the wrist, allowing Schwarzenegger to bear the weight of the gun with one hand. The sling mount was broken off and the bolt charging handle was removed by the armorer division of the prop house after production for use in a subsequent production. In very good condition. Comes with an LOA from the Property Master and prop house. If shipped to the U.S., shipping must be arranged through a federal firearms licensed dealer. $20,000 – $30,000

Given that I imagine there is some trickery involved with the M60 use too..

I have visited the Gun Store in Las Vegas, fired the 50 Desert eagle and M 16 but the M16 was that worn out the bullets were hitting paper sideways at 20 yards probably lucky to hit paper, quite an experience with armed guards in carkpark[mind you I went to a market in Cal that had same]all instructors armed and all staff behind counter armed.Group next to me asked what would happen if somebody ran amok in there, instructor grabbed a empty mag threw it into the range and whipped out his pistol and gave a very good John Wayne impression knocking the mag to the end of the range in very rapid fire.I visited another in west Yellowstone called The Big Gun here the weapons where in top order MP 5 and The Thompson 45 were my choice,at 25 yards not a bullet missed the paper[40cmx30cm]prompting instructor to comment i should have done it for a living,i asked him where do I apply for that job.

This year I fired some full auto machine guns I had never shot before. FN FAL, Steyr AUG, 1943 Sten Mark 3, FN P90, M-16 chambered in 458 SOCOM. Also reshot the M-60, AK-47, M-16, MP5/10, M1A1 Thompson.

The Steyr AUG is of course the basis for the Australian military battle rifle. I found it quite easy to shoot full auto and would like to buy one of the new Lithgow versions they are bringing to the USA(semi auto only).
